The Fearless Fashionista
Let’s face it; no matter how subtle and classic your outfit is, or how salient and colorful it is, there will be someone, somewhere that will condemn it. On the contrary, I guarantee there will also be someone, somewhere that will see it as pure genius. It is impossible to please everyone so ignore these tasteless dissidents. It takes great courage to
experiment and deviate from your standard wardrobe. But I am a firm believer that when you change your wardrobe, you may find that it is exactly what you needed. Once you make the decision to vary your style, these are some great areas to begin with.
BRIGHT COLORS: It’s easy to stick with the basic muted tones. Sometimes I am motivated by the color or pattern of a piece but my inner Jane Eyre leads me back to my uncomplicated, minimal items. When the color of a piece enraptures and inspires you, buy it! You can usually find a way to transition it into your wardrobe. Ignore the rules- don’t worry about whether
green is the right shade for your skin tone. As I have said before in many different articles, if you enjoy the color- your confidence will shine through and it will compliment you. Sometimes, the greatest accessory is self-assurance. Even if you start off small with a pair of red heels or a turquoise camisole, you can find a way to work that piece into your lifestyle.

AN EXCITING ACCESSORY: I don’t know about you, but accessories used to terrify me. They were something ambiguous and unknown, instilling fear whenever I put them on, so ninety percent of the time they would go right back into the closet. Aside from Jewelry, I was never sure how to wear that scarf or if that hat was too large for my face. However, it’s time we had the chutzpah to ignore that insecurity and let our riotous soul guide us. An intricately woven belt or a funky pair of dangling earrings may really complete your outfit. Why is jewelry such a focus on the red carpet? Because jewelry adds dimension and completion to those beautiful gowns!

Bold Prints and Stripes: I know, I know. Stripes are often associated with incarceration but with the diverse selection available to consumers, there is no reason they should be ruled out. Stripes, Patterns, Polka Dots are fun and eye-catching. As I mentioned earlier, I think the key to avoid being overwhelmed, is to start off small. Begin with a solid top and add a printed skirt or a printed handbag to your solid color ensemble.
With internet options like Bluefly.com and smaller independent designers, you can find inexpensive pieces that will ignite you style without blowing your entire paycheck.
