Take Care of your Tresses

Eat right

One way to go about making your hair look and feel beautiful is to eat right and exercise. That's right, hair growth depends on an adequate diet. A widespread diet problem which causes loss of hair is iron deficiency Anaemia--a common condition among women. The cause is too little iron in blood, brought on by a diet containing too little meat, eggs, cereals or peas and beans. Fresh fruits and vegetables are also needed to provide vitamin C, which enables your body to absorb iron.

Get a Trim

Ok, we admit that trimming your hair does not stimulate growth. However, split ends are not attractive. Plus, the shorter your hair is, the easier it is to keep your scalp clean. Nicely trimmed ends make hair look and feel better.

Prevent Damage

Although your scalp hair is hardy, and can withstand a lot of abuse, it can be damaged by too much or inexpertly applied perming, dyeing, bleaching and massage. The amount of product and heat hair can take varies from person to person.

Most people who bleach their hair do so with hydrogen peroxide. If the peroxide is repeatedly applied, it may make the hair brittle. If this happens the hair may turn rough, develop split ends, or become thinned or shortened. Regular moisture treatments are essential for those of us with color treated hair.

We like this Phyto Phytocitrus Vital Radiance Mask for color-Treated or permed hair:

If you blow dry your hair daily--particularly with a round brush, be sure to use some sort of product to your hair. This will provide your delicate strands with a layer of protection.

We like The Big Blow Off by Philosophy.

The quickest cure for blow-dryer burnout is with the big blow off. This leave-on, oil-free spray-on conditioner helps protect hair from excessive heat and enhance body that could blow anyone away.

Treat Damage

When your hair is brittle and dry, you will need more than just the routine shampoo and conditioning treatment in your daily shower. Dry hair treatments will do the trick every now and then.

We like this PHYTO Huile d'Ales Intense Hydrating Oil Treatment with essential oils for dry hair:

This revitalizing botanical oil is recommended for dry, brittle, or dull hair, split ends or chemically-processed hair. Essential oils smooth the hair's keratin fiber and condition and protect the hair shaft from further damage. Castor oil revives shine and luster.
