Old is New Again!
Vintage 20's, 30's and 40's pieces have crept into the fall collections of our favorite designers. A quick glance at the Fall Fashion recaps show us vivid, assertive prints that evoke images of the characters in The Great Gatsby or of the impervious red-lipped woman with bobbed hair and a cloche hat. This time around they have an updated look with embellishments, elaborate draping fabrics and modern pairings with fishnet tights and metallics.
Experimenting with the vintage trend can seem a bit daunting, so start small with a wool skirt pair and round toe pumps. Do not be afraid to pair brown, rust, and maroon colors and remember that colors do not have to match perfectly. Juxtaposing colors or varying shades can really make your outfit stylish.
Some of our favorite pairings of Old and New
This coppery Anne Klein Dress looks amazing with the updated Cloche Hat. A sexy brownish-red lipcolor, such as Lip Lingerie's Cuban Red spices up the look. Adding the Metallic Bag modernizes and completes this look without going over the top.
Cloche Hat by Tracy Watts $188 at Anthropologie.com, Anne Klein Dress, $240 at Nordstrom.com, BCBG Gaboni Pump, $97.95 at Nordstrom.com, Glam Chain Bag by Posh Handbags, $169 in the Lifestyle Daily Market Place, and Lip Lingerie Lipstick from Good to Be You in the Lifestyle Daily Marketplace.
This look is very chic, with the dazzling fusion of blues and reds and the varying shades of blue. I especially love the pairing of peacock blue and burgundy in the captivating collar. The 'Frenchie' wristlet is perfect the 20's Parisian, and fitting since the 20's Bob Haircut actually originated in France! If you are truly daring, pair this dress with fishnets!
Laundry by Shelli Segal, $310 at NeimanMarcus.com, Velvet Collar by Lulu Guinness $128 at Anthropologie.com, Blue Waterfall Jewels by Jessica, $85 in the Lifestyle Daily Marketplace, Kenneth Cole Reaction 'Caroling' Pump, $68.95 at Nordstrom.com, and Frenchie Wristlet by Posh Handbags, $39 in the Lifestyle Daily Marketplace.
