A "Bissel" of Yiddish for Kids
I've always been fluent in Yinglish, (English peppered heavily with Yiddish) thanks to my very Jackie Mason-esque father, so I was very excited to learn about Matzah Ball Books. They offer colorful books that are written in English but have a character named with a Yiddish word that describes a significant attribute of his or her personality. There is Shlufy Girl, Shmutzy Girl, Kvetchy Boy, Klutzy Boy and more to come.
It's a fantastic way to introduce the Yiddish Language to a child without overwhelming them. Each book teaches a wonderful lesson related to the personality trait that the main character displays. These books are so cute, you'll plotz!
Matzah Ball Books are available online at matzahballbooks.com.
