A young Beth Soggs, creator and designer of Katie Beane, received her first sewing machine and used it to fashion dresses for her favorite dolls. This creative streak was cultivated throughout her life. While attending college in New England, Beth worked in the theatre department, developing an affinity for dramatic design. After college, she lived and worked in New York City, experiencing both upscale couture and downtown urban chic on a daily basis.
Many years have passed since those first stitches were sewn, but Beth’s love for beautiful fabric and her creative spirit have endured. After settling in upstate New York, where pride in the tradition of "handcrafted creation" still thrives, she found herself newly inspired. In the winter of 2002, these themes converged to become Katie Beane.
